The artist was Birmingham native Carrie Hill. It depicts several children storybook characters. The artist used her own likeness for the face of Mother Goose. The mural measures 27 ft by 9 ft. It was damaged in the 1970's by fire and water; it was restored in 1993 by John Bertalam.
