The post office in Sandwich, IL has a terra cotta relief sculpture by Marshall M. Fredericks entitled "The Family". It was installed in 1941 at a cost of $800 under Treasury Section funding.

Fredericks was born on January 31, 1908 in Rock Island, IL. He also created art for the River Rouge, MI USPO.

It is interesting to note that this sculpture seemed to be illustrating single parent families.
