Dr. Frederick W. Nichols
Born February 28, 1858 in Marengo, Michigan, Dr. Nichols was superintendent of District 76 schools for 44 years and Secretary of the Evanston Board of Education for 13 years. He died at the age of 90 on March 17, 1948. He was an innovator in education and a strong patron of the arts. Dr. Nichols was personally responsible for the extensive art collection which was once showcased at various Evanston schools, especially at Nichols School.
