Henry Arthur Harth, of German-Austrian descent, was born on April 21, 1914 in Oregon. He created the ram's head doorknockers at Timberline Lodge, Mt. Hood, Oregon under the Federal Art Project. He was told to make a door knocker and given six assistants to produce it. The inspiration for his design came from the wild rams on the Mt. Hood and is not from a celtic design as once reported. information courtesy of Merry Harth, the artist's daughter
