New Deal/WPA Art in Sebeka, Minnesota
The Sebeka High School mural was done in 1938 by Richard Haines. He was given 500 gallons of paint for the mural. The mural measures 8-1/2 feet by 72 feet. Haines returned around 1984 with his wife, and was pleasantly surprised that his mural was still there. He left Sebeka, went down and did one at the Northrup Auditorium, and one at Fort Snelling, plus others. The Sebeka High School mural depicts the history of Minnesota from Indians, to Zebulon Pike, to logging and settlers.
